Update on MTM 2

Posted in Uncategorized on November 7, 2012 by mapthemusic

Hi there!

So everything is moving along nicely with MTM 2, and my editor, Adam, and I are very happy with how this film is turning out. I was originally hoping to have it completed by the end of the year, but even I underestimated just how ambitious I would be with this one. It was incredibly important to me not to make the same film (MTM 1) over again just with different artists, so I am really pushing myself to go further. I would like to think I have grown as an artist and as a person since making the first one, and the honest truth is it will be VERY different. On the one hand I am pretty nervous about that, but on the other I am very excited to show you.

I can’t say that its actually a problem, but the problem is we have TOO much good footage that we want to use, and we are spending hours upon hours to pull the very best of the best. So it may be an extra few months before I am ready to put my little film baby out into the world. Not to mention we are including more music and performances this time, so it may take some time to make sure we get all the rights. And of course there is the financial element. As soon as the official trailer is cut – which will be within the next month or two, I will be applying for finishing grants and seeing about another possible fundraiser. Documentaries can be expensive to make, and are very difficult to make your money back with, but that is not why I am doing it. All I care about is finishing this film and being proud of it!

But with that being said, if you have any questions please feel free to email me. Thanks everyone!

Kickstarter Goal for MTM 2 reached!!

Posted in Uncategorized on December 3, 2011 by mapthemusic

Guys we did it!! In fact we went a few hundred over our goal. I feel like I should donate the little bit extra to a music related charity. Any thoughts? I can’t tell you how moved and grateful I am that you believe in what I am doing, and went out of your way to support the film. I promise I will not let you down! With my new equipment, I filmed local people from all over the UK, went out on 6 Tori Amos shows getting footage, sat down with Amanda Palmer in LA (and shot the entire show with 2 cameras), shot Rachael Yamagata in Santa Barbara, did some kinda secret stuff I won’t tell you about until you see the film, had a house concert with Levi Weaver…and I am just getting started!! I have so much work ahead of me, and your support has inspired me to keep going. Sometimes even I think “What am I doing? Ah man. I haven’t a clue.” But then I remember…wait yes I do. Its about a passion for love…and music…and film…its all there.

Can’t wait to show you more. Updates soon!! So much love to ALL of you.

Just got back from a trip to Northern California to see the brilliant Zoe Keating perform. Her music was a huge part of the inspiration for the film, so I wanted to put this piece together for her to say thank you. Here is Zoe’s “Optimist” set to a few different settings I find to be optimistic. Hope you like it!
